Adaptation Day for Erasmus+ programme students
On 1st October 2025, the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa held an Adaptation Day, organised for Erasmus+ students who came to Nysa for the summer semester, as well as first-year English language students. The aim of the event was to familiarise participants with the university, its infrastructure and operating principles, and to integrate them into the international academic community.
The event began with the registration of participants, and the distribution of welcome packs containing essential information and materials for the start of the new semester, as well as promotional materials and gadgets. This was followed by an information meeting during which students learned about the rules of studying at PANS, the educational offer, administrative support options and the most important organisational aspects of academic life in Nysa. The new arrivals were welcomed by representatives of the university, including the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Development, dr Piotr Chwastyk, and the Head of External Relations, mgr Anna Opałka, who presented the academic profile of PANS in Nysa and the university's international activities. During the presentation, the students also shared the reasons why they chose the Erasmus+ Programme and learned how to deal with everyday difficulties, including culture shock. The students also obtained all the necessary information about their stay at the University from BWM employees: mgr Elżbieta Boruch, and mgr Dagmara Bojda. We were also honoured by the presence of representatives of the Faculty of Modern Languages: Dean dr Monika Witt, Vice-Dean dr Małgorzata Kamińska, dr Alina Bryll and mgr Sebastian Zatylny, whom we would like to thank for their cooperation in the event.
After the official part, participants – both foreign and Polish – took part in an integration field game organised by the University, the aim of which was to get to know the most important places on campus and in the immediate area of the University. The students had to answer a series of questions about the University, the Erasmus+ programme and the English language. The game promoted teamwork, mutual understanding and helped to break down initial language and cultural barriers. First-year English language students also took part in the event, participating in the information session and actively joining in the field game. Their presence significantly enriched the integration process and created space for building international relationships from the very first day of study.
After a joint lunch, which featured a traditional Polish dish – pierogi – the Erasmus+ students met with their programme coordinators to discuss issues related to the organisation of their studies, course registration and timetables.
The day culminated in an evening social event at the ARSENAŁ bowling alley, where students had the opportunity to continue their conversations in a less formal atmosphere and get to know each other better. During this part of the programme, the results of the previously organised field game were also announced.
During the winter semester, we are hosting 14 students from partner universities:
- Kütahya Dumlupınar University (Turkey)
- Sakarya University (Turkey)
- İstanbul Kültür University (Turkey)
- Universidad de Granada (Spain)
- Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (Spain)
- University of Pisa (Italy)
We are delighted to welcome once again such a diverse and energetic group of students in PANS Nysa. We wish all participants an inspiring, successful and unforgettable semester, and encourage Polish students to apply for trips abroad, where new experiences await them!
