Partner Visit to Ain Shams University, Egypt
From March 24 to 28, 2025, the UAS Nysa partner visit took place at Ain Shams University in Egypt under the Erasmus+ Program. The purpose of the visit was to deliver lectures and hold meetings to discuss cooperation between the two institutions. The delegation from PANS in Nysa included Dr. Alina Bryll (Faculty of Modern Languages), Dr. Magdalena Rogóż (Faculty of Health Sciences), and Ms. Anna Opałka (Department of External Relations and International Cooperation Office). Ain Shams University, the third-largest public university in Egypt, was established in July 1950 and currently is enrolling 155,929 students across 14 fields of study, including 9,128 international students. It is an educational, research, and service institution committed to innovation, equipping its graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the competitive labor market. For more information, visit: Ain Shams University.
The delegation’s program included the following lectures and meetings:
- Dr Alina Bryll delivered lectures on "Introduction to Academic Writing" at the Faculty of Arts, Department of English Language and Literature. These lectures were attended by students from both the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Languages. Additionally, Dr. Bryll engaged in stimulating discussions with students on various topics, including translation. Following the lecture, she presented to the academic staff the UAS in Nysa educational offer and the opportunity for Egyptian students to participate in the International Summer Programme in July. The delegation also toured the educational facilities at Ain Shams University’s main campus in Cairo.
Faculty of Arts - Dr Magdalena Rogóż gave lectures on "Technologies in Body Treatment" at the Faculty of Pharmacy. These lectures were attended not only by students and doctoral candidates from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine but also by academic staff. After the lecture, there were insightful consultations and discussions regarding the differences in training specialists in cosmetology and dermatology. The delegation also met with the faculty administration, where they presented PANS and discussed potential future collaborations.
Faculty of Pharmacy - Mgr Anna Opałka delivered a lecture on "International Cooperation as a Leverage for University Development" to the staff of the International Cooperation Office and departmental coordinators. She also gave a presentation to students about the Erasmus+ program and the procedures for participating in the International Summer School in July. Additionally, Ms. Opałka conducted meetings to improve recruitment procedures within the Erasmus+ projects and to evaluate the ongoing cooperation in preparation for the upcoming final report submission for the Erasmus+ program.
The delegation also met with the heads of the faculties where lectures were held and the directors of various departments within the International Center. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation to include joint research, training, and workshops for students. International Relations and Cooperation
he main focus of the international cooperation program was a visit to the International Center, which houses five offices:
1. International Relations Office (IRO) Website
2. International Students and Mobility Office (ISMO)
3. Ranking Office
4. Grants Office
5. Alumni Office
Given that the visit took place during Ramadan, an extraordinary highlight of the program was an invitation to Iftar with the university staff responsible for internationalization, followed by another Iftar with over 200 students and faculty members at the Faculty of Pharmacy the next day. The hosts also organized a cultural experience for the Polish delegation, which included an Arabian Cultural Show and a visit to the Pyramids of Giza and the Cairo Museum of Egyptian Civilization. These activities left lasting impressions and provided an opportunity to immerse in Arab culture and Egypt’s rich cultural heritage.
A return visit from Ain Shams University is planned before the end of this academic year. We also hope to involve Egyptian students in the International Summer School organized by UAS in Nysa and facilitate short-term mobility for Polish students to Ain Shams University, which was tentatively agreed upon during this visit.
